Turkey's blockade of Afghan migration
Turkey has tightened security at Iranian border to block Afghan migration flow. The construction of a concrete wall along the Turkish-Iranian border is intended to stem the massive influx of migrants fleeing Afghanistan since the fall of Kabul. Migrants who manage to cross face deportation or pushbacks.
President Erdogan has declared that Turkey is not Europe's "refugee warehouse" and urged EU countries to take responsibility for the flow of migrants from Afghanistan.
Arrested Afghan migrants are held in Detention Centers until their status is resolved. Many others go into hiding to avoid reprisals or police violence.
