The total number of hectares burned in Galicia in the summer of 2025 now exceeds 60,000.
The province of Ourense continues to be the epicentre of the climate emergency in Galicia in the form of devastating fires, with several large-scale fires still active. To halt their advance, more than a hundred fire brigades are working in the area, supported by air and ground resources, as well as troops from the UME (Military Engineering Unit) and the key help of thousands of residents who have organised themselves.
